Brandon Sproat Tinkering With Sinker
12 seconds agoNew York Mets starting pitching prospect Brandon Sproat has begun tinkering with a sinker. Sproat made his professional debut last summer and relied heavily on his four-seamer and changeup. However, in the offseason, the right-hander has begun working on his sinker. The Mets as a team have aggressively developed sinkers in their pitching staff. Sproat only threw a handful of them last season but is pleased with how it has evolved over the winter. The top prospect in the Mets system opened the campaign at the High-A level and eventually ended the season with Triple-A. At Double-A, the Florida product held a strong 2.45 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP across 62 2/3 innings. However, at Triple-A, Sproat took a step back as he held a 7.53 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. He will likely begin his 2025 season with Syracuse but should be in the mix for an early 2025 debut.
