Brandon Pfaadt Delivers In Key Spot For D-backs Wednesday
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt was on his game when his club needed him on Wednesday in a key 3-0 win over the hosting Chicago White Sox. The D-backs are in a four-way dogfight for the final two Wild Card spots in the National League alongside the Cubs, Marlins, and Reds but the young right-hander delivered on Wednesday. Pfaadt tossed 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball while allowing five hits and zero walks against eight strikeouts on the evening, earning his third big-league win in the process. It's been a rocky debut season for the 24-year-old who lowered his season-long ERA to 5.72 following Wednesday's outing, although he entered the night sporting a far superior 4.41 SIERA, which suggests he has been much better than his surface ERA indicates.
