Brandon Nimmo Testing New Cleats
41 seconds agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (knee/foot) has begun testing out new cleats during the early part of spring training to help with his plantar fasciitis. This injury lingered throughout the 2024 campaign and resurfaced during spring. However, Nimmo has expressed that his foot is beginning to feel "normal" again. Nimmo is also battling some minor soreness in his knee as well. This injury impacted his performance last season as he posted a career-worst .224/.327/.399 slash line. However, he did swipe a career-high 15 bags and tallied at least 20 home runs for the second-straight campaign. He also generated a strong .335 xwOBA and a 47.4 percent hard-hit rate, which suggests that he should have some positive regression in 2025. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in spring training as these new cleats could help him remain at full strength during the upcoming season. He is slated to bat behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, which makes him an intriguing value play when looking for a high number of counting stats with power and speed.
