Brandon Lowe Still Sitting Tuesday
5 months agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains sidelined on Tuesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Lowe suffered a broken right pinkie toe on Saturday and will now start on the bench for a third straight game, which is no big surprise. The Rays are hoping the oft-injured 29-year-old can avoid a trip to the injured list, though. He was available to pinch hit on Sunday, so it's possible that he'll be ready to play by the end of the week if he's feeling better. The speedy Jose Caballero is at second base and batting third, with Taylor Walls at shortstop and hitting seventh on Tuesday against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Lowe has decent pop at second base, but he just hasn't been right this year and is hitting just .217 (25-for-115) with only five homers and 22 RBI.
