Brandon Kintzler Agrees With Marlins
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with relief pitcher Brandon Kintzler on Saturday, according to a source familiar with the situation. The deal includes a $4 million option for the 2021 season or a $250,000 buyout. The 35-year-old posted an excellent 2.68 ERA and 1.02 WHIP for the Cubs in 2019, and he was an All-Star closer for the Twins in 2017 when he closed out 28 games as their ninth-inning arm. Kintzler has a good shot at earning save chances in Miami if they don't add any other late-inning arms. Serving as a closer for a rebuilding franchise isn't the most ideal, but it'll give Kintzler at least some low-end closing appeal for fantasy owners.
