Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo (ankle) will miss the entirety of the Bruins playoff run, regardless of length. The 21-year-old defenseman will be out three to four months following a fractured ankle he sustained in an awkward fall on March 31. This is awful news, considering Carlo missed last year’s postseason with a concussion. Carlo has played most commonly on a pairing with Torey Krug and at times with Zdeno Chara. It appears the top pairing of Chara and Charlie McAvoy will remain intact, and the Bruins may pair Krug with newly-acquired Nick Holden. A shakeup in your top-four defense is an unwanted change heading into the playoffs, but this poses an opportunity for Kevan Miller and Matt Grzelcyk to earn bigger roles alongside Krug or Holden.--Kevin Acorn
