Brandon Belt Hopeful He'll Be On Opening Day Roster
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (heel) felt good in his start on Thursday, and is hopeful he'll be ready to be on the Opening Day roster, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Making just his second appearance of the spring as he recovers from offseason surgery to remove bone chips in his heel, Belt went 1-for-2 with a run scored in the Giants 2-2 tie with the Brewers. Belt had some of the best numbers of his career in 2020, slashing .309/.425/.591 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 51 games. If he's healthy, managers should look to target him in the later rounds, as he can be one of the better corner infield options to be found at the end of drafts.
