Brad Ziegler Still On Track To Be Marlins Closer
7 years agoRelief pitcher Brad Ziegler is still expected to be the Miami Marlins closer when the season starts, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. The veteran Ziegler is close to 40 years old and is coming off one of the worst seasons he's ever had. In 2017, Ziegler finished with 10 saves but also blew five, a microcosm of how Miami's bullpen performed over the course of the season. With A.J. Ramos gone, the journeyman Ziegler now bears the responsibility of closing games for the Fish. His 4.79 ERA was not what the Marlins were hoping for when they brought him in last year, though it's hard to see him performing much worse than that in 2018.
