Brad Miller Clutch Off Bench
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Brad Miller had a rollercoaster type of day Tuesday versus Washington. First, he was put on the bench facing a right-hander despite that being the side he has more career success against. Admittedly, the right-hander was one of the best pitchers in baseball in Max Scherzer. He sat on the bench until the eighth inning when he came in as a pinch-hitter and faced Scherzer anyway. He would double to drive in the only two runs Tampa Bay scored. There is also speculation that Miller could be in danger of losing even more time. The probable deadline involved with service-time calculations has passed, which has led to rumors that super-prospect Jake Bauers could be called up soon. Regardless of that concern, it sounds like Miller will be out of the lineup again Wednesday.
