1 year agoJust eight minutes into practice at Gateway on Saturday morning, Brad Keselowski ran into issues with his left rear tire completely coming apart. With Gateway being such a low-wear race track, this should be a bit concerning for the #6 race team, and Keselowski echoed those concerns during an interview between practice and qualifying. He told Regan Smith, "Yeah, a lot of concern, Regan. Not sure why it blew out. We thought we were really conservative and we saw a lot of [tire] issues here last year. Not sure what's up so we'll try to digest that once we get through all the practice and qualifying stuff." Keselowski still showed decent speed on Saturday despite the issues, as he was 10th-fastest in practice and ended up qualifying 19th for Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300.--Jordan McAbee
