Brad Keller Throws First Complete Game
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller was on fire through June, and he's continued it into July. Keller threw a one-run complete game against the Mariners on Sunday, allowing just six hits in a tidy 102-pitch effort. He took the loss due to a run that scored off three straight singles in the second inning while his offense failed to plate anyone. In fact, his offense failed to ever get a runner past second base. Keller has been extremely successful so far, but storm clouds are on the horizon. He's entirely dependent so far on a ground-ball rate of nearly 60 percent, as he's only striking out 5.3 batters per nine innings, so a correction is coming. Expect Keller's ERA to skyrocket soon.
