Brad Keller Takes No-Decision Sunday
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller started for the third time on Sunday, and he took a no-decision after he left the game tied at two. Keller only allowed one earned run over 5 1/3 innings, but KC's offense wasn't able to give him more support. It was Keller's longest outing of the season as he gets stretched out, but he walked four and only struck out four. Since moving into a starting role, Keller has walked six batters while striking out 10 in 12 2/3 innings. His 2.84 ERA as a starter is attractive, but the below-average strikeout rate and high walk rate combined with his fortunate 80 percent strand rate means there's an ugly 4.72 xFIP lying beneath the surface. It wouldn't be surprising for his luck to turn soon.
