Brad Hand Picks Up His Fourth Save On Friday
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Brad Hand pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals to earn his fourth save of the year. He retired each of the three batters he faced and only needed eight pitches to get through the inning. The Phillies have been utilizing a closer by committee approach for about a month now, ever since Corey Knebel pitched his way out of the ninth inning role. Hand and Seranthony Dominguez have earned three saves each since Knebel lost his job and Andrew Bellatti has a save over the past month as well. Dominguez pitched the eighth inning on Friday, but their roles were reversed just a day earlier when Hand pitched the eighth and Dominguez closed things out for the save.
