Brad Hand, Carlos Santana, Domingo Santana Become Free Agents
4 years agoThe Cleveland Indians declined 2021 options on relief pitcher Brad Hand ($10 million), first baseman Carlos Santana ($17.5 million) and outfielder Domingo Santana ($5 million) on Friday, making them free agents. Hand will receive a $500,000 buyout and the Santanas will each receive $250,000. The 30-year-old Hand led baseball with 16 saves this year, but he wasn't claimed by a team on outright waivers. He had 58 saves and a 2.78 ERA in 111 games for the Tribe the last two-plus years. Carlos Santana hit a career-low .199 with eight home runs and 30 RBI in 60 games, but it's possible he re-signs at a lesser contract.
