Red Sox Acquire Franchy Cordero, Josh Winckowski
4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox have agreed to a three-team deal that has sent outfielder Andrew Benintendi to the Kansas City Royals. In the deal, the Red Sox have acquired outfielder Franchy Cordero from the Royals and pitcher Josh Winckowski from the New York Mets. The Red Sox will also receive two more players to be named from Kansas City and one more from New York. Cordero projects to be one of the team's primary outfielders, filling the void left by Benintendi. Last year, Cordero slashed .211/.286/.447 with two home runs and seven RBI over 16 games in a reserve role for Kansas City. The 22-year-old Winckowski is yet to make his MLB debut. Winckowski split the 2019 season between Single-A and High-A and posted a 2.69 ERA and 1.202 WHIP over 127.1 innings.
