Columbus Blue Jackets center Boone Jenner (shoulder) underwent surgery on Wednesday and will be out for 5-6 months. He injured his shoulder in practice last week. The team is hopeful of getting Jenner back before the end of the season, with general manager Don Waddell mentioning Columbus' outdoor game against Detroit on March 1 as a potential target date for Jenner. With Jenner sidelined, Sean Monahan is expected to take on first-line center duties in Thursday's season opener against the Minnesota Wild.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner (shoulder) is expected to make his season debut on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The veteran has yet to suit up for the Blue Jackets in 2024-25 due to shoulder surgery. Jenner will link up with Cole Sillinger and Kent Johnson on the second line. He will also work with the second power-play unit. While Jenner is not known as a prolific scorer, he has three consecutive 20-goal seasons under his belt and wrapped up last season with 35 points (22 goals, 13 assists) in 58 appearances. Additionally, the 31-year-old adds physicality to the lineup. Jenner has averaged 2.26 hits per game for his career. The Columbus attack will also have Kirill Marchenko (jaw) back on Saturday following his three-game absence.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Columbus Blue Jackets center Boone Jenner (shoulder) is expected to return to action following the international break. The 31-year-old has been unable to play this season due to a shoulder injury he sustained during training camp. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their first game against the Chicago Blackhawks on February 22. If Jenner were to be cleared for action, he would likely find a role in the top-six, especially with Sean Monahan (wrist) and Kirill Marchenko (jaw) still sidelined. Across 58 contests last season, Jenner found the back of the net 22 times and added 13 helpers. He will be a viable option in standard formats if he earns top minutes in the offense.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Boone Jenner (upper body) is expected to be placed on the injured reserve, according to Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers. Scheig further noted that Jenner could miss a significant amount of time. The 31-year-old reportedly suffered the injury during Friday's practice. As a result, fantasy managers should expect 23-year-old Yegor Chinakhov to replace Jenner on the top line. Jenner scored at least 20 goals for the third-straight campaign in 2023 with 35 points. Chinakhov began to emerge in Columbus last season as he scored a career-high 16 goals before suffering a season-ending injury. Chinakhov is worth adding in most formats as he should have a good opportunity to reach the 20-goal mark this season playing on the top line and top power-play unit.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner (upper body) suffered an injury during Friday's practice, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic. The Blue Jackets captain was hit hard along the boards and had to leave the ice. The 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day for the time being, as he has not been ruled out for the season opener on Thursday evening against the Minnesota Wild; however, he was kept off the starting lineup during Friday's preseason game out of precaution. Last season, Jenner hit the 20-goal mark for the third-straight campaign but saw his overall offensive output drop as he tallied only 35 points, his lowest in the past three years. Fantasy managers should expect Jenner to serve as the starting left wing on the top line alongside Sean Monahan and Krill Marchenko. --Andy Smith - RotoBaller
