Bobby Witt Jr. Dropped To Sixth In Batting Order
2 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. has been dropped to sixth in the batting order on Monday against the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Michael Lorenzen. It's the lowest spot in the order that Witt has occupied so far this year, and he's mostly been KC's leadoff hitter. But the 22-year-old has been slumping at the plate of late and is hitting only .226 (44-for-195) with seven doubles, a league-leading four triples, seven home runs, 19 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 29 runs scored in 47 games. He's gone just 8-for-45 (.178) with a homer, four RBI and 12 strikeouts in his last 11 games played. Hopefully the drop in the order will give Witt some better pitches to hit, but his DFS appeal will obviously take a hit. Outfielder Nick Pratto is serving as the team's leadoff hitter on Monday.
