Blue Jays Not Expecting Much From Troy Tulowitzki
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins was honest with the team's expectations for oft-injured shortstop Troy Tulowitzki heading into the 2019 season. "Candidly, and I think Troy would agree with me, that is not likely," Atkins said. "He will have to overachieve to play shortstop at an above-average level, with above-average offensive performance for 140 games. That would be unlikely based on what has occurred in the last 2 1/2 years. That doesn't mean he's not going to do it, but candidly, I don't think that's likely." Atkins also said that Lourdes Gurriel would be the starting shortstop if the season started tomorrow. Tulo has two years and $38 million still left on his deal as well. Tulowitzki only played in 66 games in 2017 and shouldn't be relied on in, at least not in mixed fantasy leagues.
