Blue Jays Going With Trent Thornton As Opener On Monday
3 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays have announced that Trent Thornton is going to start Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He will serve as an opener. Ross Stripling, who was previously slated to start, will likely work in relief. Thornton has been solid over 14 appearances (two starts) this year, posting a 2.70 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Stripling, on the other hand, has had a disastrous season, going 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over six starts. There's a good chance that he's lost his spot in the rotation for now, though the Blue Jays haven't officially announced that to be the case.
