1 year agoFree-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler is receiving interest from the Toronto Blue Jays on the open market. The club is looking to add a power bat alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Soler certainly fits that bill. The veteran clubbed 36 home runs in the 2023 season while posting an .853 OPS before opting out of the final season of his three-year deal with the Miami Marlins. The Blue Jays issued a qualifying offer to free-agent Matt Chapman but decided against issuing one to outfielder Kevin Kiermaier and utility man Whit Merrifield, who are both now officially free agents. Adding Soler would bolster an outfield that is currently without a proven left fielder due to Daulton Varsho's likelihood of moving to center field in Kiermaier's stead.--Brenton Kemp
