4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen isn't available to pitch on Saturday night against the New York Mets. The veteran recorded four outs in his appearance against the Mets on Friday and previously threw scoreless innings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overall, Treinen has pitched to a 1.97 ERA, a 2.74 FIP, 56 strikeouts, and 15 walks in 50.1 innings this season. Fellow relievers Kenley Jansen and Brusdar Graterol are also unavailable to pitch on Saturday. Without Treinen and Jansen in the late-inning mix against the Mets and Jimmy Nelson and Victor Gonzalez on the injured list, Corey Knebel could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers looking for potential save opportunities. Knebel has pitched to a 3.52 ERA and a 1.35 FIP in 7.2 innings this season.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller

4 months agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing back reliever Blake Treinen on a two-year, $22 million contract. The 36-year-old had a fantastic season coming out of the 'pen for the Dodgers, recording 16 holds and a save on the back of a 1.93 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and an 11:56 BB:K over 46 2/3 IP. It was a superb bounce-back performance after missing all of 2023 and most of 2022 with a shoulder injury. The 2024 campaign culminated with two-and-a-third innings of one-hit ball in Game 5 of the World Series where he allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three, going down as the winning pitcher in the series finale. For his career, the righty owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 24.8% strikeout rate. For fantasy in 2025, he'll be relevant in any league that rewards holds and could be considered in other leagues were he pressed into a closer role.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

5 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen recorded the final six outs of Game 6 of the NLCS, earning the save in a 10-5 win over the New York Mets. The 36-year-old allowed one run on two hits while striking out four. Treinen was the seventh Dodgers reliever used in this one, as manager Dave Roberts elected to go with a bullpen game. It wasn't pretty, as five of the seven allowed a run, but they got the job done. As for Treinen, the run he allowed in this one was the first he has given up in eight postseason innings. Los Angeles will need him to continue that form against the New York Yankees in what should be an entertaining World Series.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

7 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Blake Treinen (hip) made a minor-league rehab appearance with Double-A Tulsa on Saturday and tossed a scoreless inning, walking none, striking out the side and not allowing a hit. Treinen appears to be on track to come off the 15-day injured list on the first day he's eligible on Tuesday after the dominant rehab outing over the weekend. The 36-year-old veteran is recovering from left-hip discomfort but should be back in the big-league bullpen this week. It's looking like trade acquisition Michael Kopech is taking over the closing duties in LA, but Treinen will return to a high-leverage, late-inning setup role when he's activated off the IL. In 34 appearances out of the bullpen in 2024, Treinen has been solid, posting a 2.67 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, one save, 38 strikeouts and nine walks in 30 1/3 innings pitched.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

11 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen (lung) was used as the opener in Triple-A Oklahoma City's game on Thursday, throwing a perfect inning with two strikeouts. Treinen has looked good in his past two appearances, allowing just one hit and accumulating three strikeouts and zero walks. With five rehab appearances under his belt, he might be ready to make his 2024 season debut soon for the Dodgers after bruising his lung early in Spring Training. The veteran will be a welcome addition to the Dodgers bullpen and should see a decent share of work late in close games, making him a solid add in saves-plus-holds leagues.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
