Blake Treinen Not A Lock For Closer Role
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts wouldn't commit to using Blake Treinen as the team's closer this season, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Asked about the team's plans for a closer in the post-Kenley Jansen era, Roberts said, "I think the easy answer is Blake [Treinen]. But I don't know if that's the right answer. Right now where we're at, we don't have a dedicated closer." Evidently, the role is up for grabs as we head into the final full week of Spring Training. For reference, Treinen, 33, impressed to the tune of a 1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 95 strikeouts through 72.1 innings in 2021. He had fantastic metrics on the mound and currently ranks as RotoBaller's No. 6 reliever ahead of upcoming fantasy drafts.
