Blake Treinen Falls Apart In Sunday's Relief Loss
6 years agoOakland Athletics closer Blake Treinen was entrusted with the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, but he couldn't hold it to take his first blown save and loss of 2019 in Houston on Sunday. He said after the game that he struggled with command of his hard, sinking fastball. Treinen allowed inherited runs to score in the eighth, but managed to get out of it with the game still tied. In the bottom of the ninth, he coughed up a bases-loaded walk to Jose Altuve for the walk-off walk. Despite the ugly loss and four-walk effort, he remains a must-start fantasy closer in all formats until further notice.
