Blake Snell Handles Cubs For Second Win Of The Year
1 year agoSan Diego Padres left-handed pitcher Blake Snell earned the victory on Monday, allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over six innings in a 5-0 win over the Chicago Cubs. While free passes continue to be an issue for the 30-year-old southpaw, the eight strikeouts were just one shy of his season-high of nine. He had a lot of swing-and-miss in his arsenal on Monday and limited the Cubbies to just two hits, both of which were singles. The sterling effort lowers his season ERA to 4.06 to go along with a 1.44 WHIP and 69:37 K/BB ratio over 62 innings (12 starts). He'll look to keep things rolling in his next turn against the Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday.
