Blaine Hardy Roughed Up Over Five Innings
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Blaine Hardy did not have his best stuff on Wednesday afternoon against the Los Angeles Angels, taking the loss after allowing five earned runs and seven hits over five innings. He struck out three, walked one, and surrendered home runs to Kole Calhoun, Justin Upton, and Albert Pujols. The disappointing outing moves his record to 4-4 and raises his ERA to 3.63, while his 54/19 K/BB over 74 1/3 innings leaves much to be desired. Hardy's previous two starts had been encouraging, as he allowed just one earned run and five hits to the Athletics and Indians over 12 innings. However, this rough start should be a reminder that Blaine Hardy isn't a long-term starter and should only be trusted in the most favorable of matchups.
