Bills Sign Tavon Austin
2 years agoThe Buffalo Bills signed free-agent wide receiver Tavon Austin to an undisclosed deal on Thursday, according to a source. The former eighth overall pick by the Rams in 2013 had 24 catches for 213 yards and one touchdown on 37 targets in 13 games (three starts) for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. The 32-year-old will try to earn a roster spot in a talented Bills offense, and if he does, he'll likely be battling Isaiah McKenzie and rookie Khalil Shakir as a depth receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Jamison Crowder. Austin has mostly been a gadget player in his time in the NFL, and he's totaled 244 catches (407 targets) for 2,239 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in nine seasons. He's also added 199 carries for 1,361 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
