Ben Chiarot Moves To Florida
3 years agoThe Florida Panthers acquired defenseman Ben Chiarot from the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, giving up prospect Tyler Smilanic and their 2023 first-round and 2022 fourth-round draft pick. It remains to be seen if Chiarot is ready to make his debut straight away on Thursday against Vegas. This is a great move for the 30-year-old, as he goes from the worst team in the league to one of the best. Chiarot has been a good source for defensive stats in fantasy hockey, averaging 2.04 hits and 1.68 blocks for the season. He's also on pace to having a career year offensively and joining the league's highest-scoring team will boost his chances of getting there even further. However, Chiarot's defensive numbers look set to drop, as he will play a lesser role on the Panthers team.

Ben Chiarot Scratched For Tuesday
3 years agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against Arizona. The team will keep him out of action to protect him from a potential injury ahead of next Monday's trade deadline. Chiarot should be an attractive piece for a lot of teams. He's a big force in the defensive end, having registered 110 hits and 91 blocks this season, and he's shown off his offensive ability as well lately, averaging a point per game across his last nine outings. Chiarot is on seven goals and 18 points for the whole campaign in 54 games.
