Barclay Goodrow Off to Slow Start in First Line Audition
5 years agoSan Jose Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow was tapped to play on San Jose's top line between Evander Kane and Timo Meier after Tomas Hertl was injured two games ago, but has just five shots and no points to show for it. He is getting more than 19 minutes of time on ice in those two games, but Saturday night's 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay saw San Jose's top line give up two goals and generate little offense themselves. If there is a positive, it is that Goodrow has racked up 15 hits in those two games, bringing his typical physical play to the top line but now with more time to collect hits. In the short term, his premium deployment could make him a valuable streamer, especially in formats that reward hits, but his point production will have to pick up if he is going to be anything more than that.
