Baltimore Goes Back To College With Connor Norby
3 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles have gone back-to-back with college bats to open the 2021 Draft, as they selected second baseman Connor Norby out of East Carolina in the second round. After batting .403 in the shortened 2020 season, Norby followed that up by hitting .415 this season, where he hit safely in 30 of his first 31 games and reached base in 56 straight games across two seasons. He showed improved power in 2021, slugging nine home runs in his first 31 games of the season after hitting a total of two homers in 44 games over his previous two seasons. Scouts don't see a ton of power or speed in his future, but he looks like he could be a solid second baseman that hits for a higher average and can reach double-digit home runs and steals.
