2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 20 of 36 pass attempts for 215 yards and one interception in a 37-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Mayfield was also sacked four times before being pulled for PJ Walker in the fourth quarter. The 27-year-old has been putrid on the field and for fantasy purposes so far this season. Many fans are calling for the Panthers to fire head coach Matt Rhule, but Mayfield's job security has to be in question at this point as well. Although Sam Darnold (ankle) is reportedly not close to returning, it seems possible that Walker could be named the starter if the team runs out of patience.
