Dusty Baker Considering Carlos Correa, Myles Straw At Leadoff
4 years agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker said that his leading candidates for the team's leadoff hitter this year are shortstop Carlos Correa and outfielder Myles Straw. Baker has a tall task in filling the void left by longtime Astros leadoff hitter George Springer, who signed with the Toronto Blue Jays this offseason. Correa has spent most of his career hitting in the heart of the Astros' order. Last year, Correa had a rough year overall and had an on-base percentage of just .326. Straw, meanwhile, is yet to log a full Major League season. Last year, over 33 games, he slashed .207/.244/.256 and stole six bases in eight attempts. He led off in nine games and lined up in the bottom-third of the order in most of his other starts.
