Avisail Garcia Restarting Rehab Assignment
1 year agoMiami Marlins outfielder Avisail Garcia (back) is restarting a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday. Garcia suffered a setback with his back injury after initially starting a rehab assignment, but he's now getting back to game action and could rejoin the Marlins roster in short order. The 32-year-old veteran hasn't played since April and was hitting just .188/.243/.333 with three home runs, a double, eight RBI and six runs scored in 22 games before his injury. Garcia hit .224 (80-for-357) with only eight long balls, nine doubles, 35 RBI, four stolen bases and 31 runs scored in 98 games for the Fish in his first year with the team. He hit a career-high 29 homers in 2021 with Milwaukee, but Garcia is injury-prone at this point in his career and has never reached the 30-homer mark in 11 seasons.
