Avisail Garcia Does Some Running
1 year agoMiami Marlins outfielder Avisail Garcia (back) ran on the field on Monday. He started a minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on May 29 and had played in four games before suffering a setback. He was initially placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 29) on May 2. It remains to be seen when the 32-year-old veteran will restart a rehab assignment, but it's a good sign that he's at least doing some baseball activities this week. Hopefully, he'll be able to rejoin the Marlins before the end of June. Garcia had played in just 22 games before his injury, and he was hitting a lowly .188 (13-for-69) with a double, three home runs, eight RBI and six runs scored in 76 plate appearances. He can be left to the waiver wire in mixed leagues for the foreseeable future.
