Auston Matthews Wants To Sign Contract Extension With Maple Leafs
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews has expressed his desire to stay with the team beyond the 2023-24 NHL season, as the 25-year-old forward is entering the final season of a five-year contract before he can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024. Matthews' current contract has an average annual value of $11.6 million and he is eligible to sign another deal on July 1. Matthews had his fourth consecutive season with at least 40 goals, while following up the productive regular season with five goals and 11 points in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
