Auston Matthews Racks Up Four Points On Saturday
5 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews registered a goal and added a trio of assists as his team edged the visiting Anaheim Ducks 5-4 in overtime on Friday night. With his second four-point performance of the season, the 22-year-old also extended his personal point streak to six games - a span in which he's collected six goals and five assists. Matthews continues to be one of the hottest scorers in calendar year 2020, checking in with 20 points (13 goals, seven assists) in 14 games since January 1st. He's the leader of a high-flying Toronto attack (currently second in the NHL in goals-for-per-game) and is now tied for first in the entire NHL with Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin in goals (40). He should be a front-runner for the Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophy for the foreseeable future and will lace up the skates next versus the Canadiens on Saturday.
