Austin Riley To See Outfield Reps In Minors
6 years agoAtlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley has homered nine times in his last 46 at-bats for Triple-A Gwinnett, but he's about to start seeing more time in the corner outfield spots, perhaps foreshadowing his role if he's called up to the Braves. Riley, the team's No. 5 prospect and No. 34 overall per MLB Pipeline, has stuck at third base all season and in spring training. He's expected to contribute in Atlanta at some point in 2019, and having outfield flexibility will increase his versatility and worth. The 22-year-old is hitting .300/.373/.633 overall in the minors with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 31 games. Stash him now in dynasty/keeper formats if he's available. If he comes up and sees enough playing time in the majors, he'd also have value in mixed leagues.
