Austin Nola Sitting With Thumb Soreness On Wednesday
3 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Nola (thumb, wrist) is getting the day off on Wednesday as the team faces Scott Kazmir and the San Francisco Giants. Victor Caratini is getting the start behind the plate for the game. Nola is dealing with thumb and wrist soreness. He injured himself during a play at the plate in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game. Giants first baseman Brandon Belt slid into Nola's glove hand, knocking the ball loose and causing Nola's injury in the process. Nola was looked at by a trainer, but he remained in the game after the play. He should be considered day-to-day for now.
