Austin Nola, Austin Adams Dealt To Padres In Seven-Player Trade
4 years agoThe San Diego Padres acquired catcher Austin Nola and relievers Austin Adams (knee) and Dan Altavilla from the Seattle Mariners. In exchange, the Friars are sending No. 5 prospect outfielder Taylor Trammell, infielder Ty France, reliever Andres Munoz (elbow) and catcher Luis Torrens to the Pacific Northwest. Nola has broken out as a 30-year-old backstop, registering a .903 OPS, five homers and 34 runs-plus-RBI in 110 plate appearances. He’ll share time behind the dish with newly-acquired Jason Castro and current starter Austin Hedges. Adams, 29, is recovering from a torn ACL but appears near activation. He registered a 3.94 ERA and 41 percent strikeout rate in 32 frames last season. Nola’s fantasy stock could see a boost in a loaded offense but his playing time is uncertain. Adams may be a candidate for late-game situations once he’s healthy and worth a stash in holds leagues. With a 7.71 ERA, Altavilla will likely pitch in middle relief and isn’t a fantasy factor.
