Austin Hooper Is A Low-End TE1 For Week 1
5 years agoAtlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper could provide a safety net and a strong end-zone target for quarterback Matt Ryan in a tough Week 1 matchup against the Vikings. The big story surrounding the Falcons offense heading into Week 1 is the availability of wide receiver Julio Jones, who is in the midst of contract negotiations with the team and appears questionable, at best, for Sunday at this point. If Jones is out, that opens up about 10 targets that should be primarily spread across Hooper and wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu. The Vikings had one of the league's top pass defenses last year and should continue to be tough against the pass this year, so don't expect strong yardage from Hooper, but he has a decent chance to find the end zone and could reel in as many as five or six catches if Jones is out.
