2 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays is having a career year thus far in 2023, slashing .295/.337/.551 with four homers, 16 runs, eight RBI, and one stolen base over 21 games. Fantasy owners have to be excited with the results after a lackluster 2022 campaign in which he posted a .250 batting average and .719 OPS. Hays' play has prompted manager Brandon Hyde to move the 27-year-old up to the leadoff spot against left-handers, batting atop the lineup in three of the last four games and five times in total. He should keep tearing up the baseball, given his .635 xSLG, and will continue adding to his high run total with occasional appearances leading off.--Spencer Seguin
