Austin Gomber Walks Seven In Rockies Debut
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Austin Gomber struggled in his first start with Colorado, allowing three runs — one earned — on one hit and seven walks while striking out two in three innings of work. The headlining player going to the Rockies in the Nolan Arenado trade earlier this year, Gomber's numbers outside of the walks weren't all that bad. But he struggled with command as Just 37 of his 73 pitches (50.7%) were strikes. It was a stark contrast to his Spring Training numbers, in which he had 19 strikeouts to just two walks in 19 2/3 innings of work. Hopefully Gomber will show improvement with his control in his next scheduled start against the Giants.
