Austin Gomber Pitches Well In No-Decision
4 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber took a no-decision on Tuesday when he allowed one run on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over six innings in a 2-1 loss to the Padres. Gomber and his fellow left-handed counterpart, Blake Snell, were locked in a pitcher's duel all night with the score knotted up at 1-1 by the time both hurlers exited the contest. Jurickson Profar hit an RBI groundout in the second inning for the only earned run charged to Gomber. He punched out seven batters and only issued one free pass. He's walked just three batters over his last four starts and has only allowed one earned run over the previous two (11 1/3 innings). The stellar play has lowered his season ERA to 4.96 to go along with a 1.30 WHIP and 47:22 K/BB ratio over 45 1/3 innings (nine starts). The 27-year-old will square off against the Mets on the road in his next start but is still hard to trust for fantasy purposes.
