Austin Eckroat Wants To Shake Off Some More Rust In Mexico
5 months agoAustin Eckroat competed in the Shriners Children's Open in October. For the American golfer, it was his first tournament in almost two months, and it showed. Eckroat was up and down all week but managed to finish inside the top 50. Thankfully, this course is not like a Major or the BMW Championship, where Eckroat just blew up in the final round (77). That is something that has occurred more than a few times at several PGA events in 2024. His putter has not been optimal, but greens in regulation is important at El Cardonal. If Eckroat can stay accurate with his approaches, he can make some putts. Staying in position will be vital for the young golfer.

Austin Eckroat Defends Title At Cognizant Classic
1 month agoAustin Eckroat missed the cut at the Genesis Invitational two weeks ago, marking his fourth missed cut in six appearances. He is now focusing on preparing for this week's Cognizant Classic at PGA National Resort, where he is the defending champion. Eckroat will need to improve his game to have a chance at defending his title. It's worth noting that over the past 12 months, Eckroat ranks in the 92nd percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150 to 200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's Cognizant Classic, over 44% of approach shots came from this distance. Including Eckroat in DFS lineups this week carries some risk.

Austin Eckroat A Name To Watch For At WM Phoenix Open
2 months agoAfter a rough two-week stretch, Austin Eckroat seemed to find some things in his golf game last week in Monterey. The 26-year-old ranked seventh in the field in strokes gained off the tee (+0.66) and 14th in strokes gained putting (+0.85). Both metrics are the two biggest contributors to total strokes gained at this event since 2015. As someone who cuts his teeth on being one of the more accurate drivers of the golf ball on the PGA Tour, a similar performance in that department should be expected. The question is whether getting putts to fall can transition to a much different surface than what is at Pebble Beach. Still, at $8,800 on FanDuel, Eckroat is a viable play this week that should warrant heavy consideration.

Austin Eckroat Ready To Put Missed Cut At Sony Open Behind Him
2 months agoAustin Eckroat missed the cut at the Sony Open two weeks ago and is now focusing on preparing for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. He has had mixed results at this event, finishing tied for 37th in 2024, while missing the cut in both 2023 and 2022. Notably, over 34% of approach shots at last year's Farmers Insurance Open came from over 200 yards. In the past 12 months, Eckroat ranks in the 53rd percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots taken from this distance in the fairway. Given Eckroat's recent performance and inconsistency at this event, including him in DFS lineups this week carries some risk.

Austin Eckroat Heads To The RSM Classic After Win
4 months agoAustin Eckroat walked away as the champion at the World Wide Technology Championships two weeks ago. Now, he is set to tee it up at the Seaside Island Golf Club for this week's RSM Classic. Last year, Eckroat finished tied for eighth at the RSM Classic. Over the past 12 months, he has ranked in the 46th percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is significant because more than 30% of approach shots at last year's RSM Classic were from this distance. Given Eckroat's recent performance and his track record at this event, he could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.
