Richard Childress Racing's Austin Dillon pushed as hard as he could but just came up short, finishing second in Sunday night's Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Dillon started in the 12th position and hovered around the top-10 all night, collecting stage points during the second stage. Dillon and the No. 3 team took advantage of being on the right side of strategy when a late caution hit, and Dillon jumped into the top-five for the restart. After keeping pace with Kevin Harvick, while running fourth, the battle turned into one for the win after the leaders got together. With some lap traffic ahead, Dillon made a huge charge on the final lap but just couldn't get to Harvick in time. The finish was Dillon's third top-five of the season.--John Pitucci - RotoBaller
