2 years agoLast year's Daytona 500 winner, Austin Cindric, is still searching for his second career win in the NASCAR Cup Series, and it could very well come this weekend at Circuit of the Americas. Cindric showed good speed during Friday's practice session for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, with the 7th-fastest lap in the session, and then followed that up by being the fastest Ford in Saturday's qualifying session. He will start Sunday's race from the 3rd position. One big change that is happening with NASCAR this weekend is the removal of the Stage cautions during road course races, which will have an effect on Sunday's event. When asked his thoughts about this change, Austin Cindric stated, "I think it really changes the strategy of the race and how to go about your speed, but also and most importantly, it gives the chance for the best cars of that race to be rewarded for being the best." In last year's race at COTA, Cindric had the 4th-best Green Flag Speed and finished 8th when the checkered flag waved.--Jordan McAbee
