Austin Barnes' Catching Start Pushed To Tuesday
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes (elbow) will finally play his first spring training game on Tuesday. He had originally been penciled in to start on Monday but was pushed back one day likely because of the virus that struck many in the clubhouse last week. Barnes felt his throwing elbow start "barking" shortly before camp, so he's been on a reduced throwing regimen. Despite overtaking Yasmani Grandal for the starting position in the playoffs last year, manager Dave Roberts has stated that Grandal will get the majority of starts this season. The tandem of Grandal and Barnes makes a formidable duo for the Dodgers, and fantasy players in two-catcher leagues should grab them both. If Barnes continues to hit like he did at the end of last season, he'll take the job sooner rather than later. Barnes also has second base eligibility in many leagues, so plan accordingly.
