Atlanta Clears Onyeka Okongwu To Return Saturday
4 years agoAtlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (Achilles) has been given the thumbs up to get back in action Saturday versus Toronto after a three-game absence related to left Achilles soreness. Okongwu has played sparingly during his rookie season due to injuries, but has shown a propensity for shot-blocking (1.2 per game) when cleared. That being said, he holds little fantasy intrigue (3.6 points and boards per contest) until his minutes trend upward. His return likely bumps Bruno Fernando from the rotation.

Onyeka Okongwu Still Out On Saturday
3 months agoAtlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (knee) remains out for Saturday's meeting with the Miami Heat. He'll now miss his fifth consecutive contest because of left knee inflammation, so it's anyone's guess when he will be healthy enough to return. With Bogdan Bogdanovic (leg) and Dyson Daniels (illness) also sidelined, the Hawks will need to go deeper into the bench, meaning De'Andre Hunter, who scored 25 points on Thursday versus the Bulls, and Larry Nance Jr. could continue to benefit from a production standpoint.

Onyeka Okongwu To Remain Sidelined Thursday
3 months agoAtlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (knee) will remain out of the lineup on Thursday against Chicago. The talented big man has battled inflammation in his left knee lately and will miss a fourth consecutive game. Larry Nance Jr. has entered the rotation in Okongwu's absence, posting impressive numbers. Working as Clint Capela's backup, Nance Jr. has averaged 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 blocks across the past three games. The Hawks big men should get plenty of work done on Thursday against a team that gives up the seventh-most fantasy points in the league to opposing centers.

Onyeka Okongwu Out At Least Four Games
4 months agoAtlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (knee) will miss at least four games due to left knee inflammation. He will be re-evaluated in a week. The 24-year-old is currently having the best season of his career, averaging 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds. But while he's sidelined, Larry Nance Jr. could see some minutes at the five spot. However, Nance has some work to do to gain the trust of fantasy managers, although he's worth considering for rosters if he can make good use of his time on the court.

Onyeka Okongwu Lands On Injury Report
5 months agoAtlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (toe) has been added to the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. It's the first game of a back-to-back set, so the Hawks might decide to give Okongwu a rest night on Sunday. He has been quiet since his 28-point outing during the season opener. Since then, Okongwu is averaging 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks over his last four games. Larry Nance Jr. and Dominick Barlow figure to see extended playing time if Okongwu is unable to play on Sunday or Monday.
