Astros Recall Outfielder Derek Fisher
6 years agoThe Houston Astros have recalled right fielder Derek Fisher from Triple-A Round Rock. He replaces outfielder George Springer, who is expected to be placed on the injured list after leaving Friday's game with a hamstring injury, on the active roster. Fisher was really raking it with the Express to the tune of .314/.379/.555 with eight home runs and six steals in 154 plate appearances. This will be the 25-year-old's second stint with the big league club this year as he spent two days with the team earlier in the month, going 0-for-1 at the plate in two appearances. He is expected to compete with Michael Brantley, Josh Reddick, Jake Marisnick and Tony Kemp for at-bats. While Fisher has yet to get on track at the major league level in three years -- hitting just .195 with a 37.9 percent strikeout rate -- his combination of power and speed could be useful for fantasy owners in deeper leagues depending on the amount of playing time he receives.
