Astros Add Brooks Raley To Injury-Depleted Staff
4 years agoLeft-handed pitcher Brooks Raley has been claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros after having been designated for assignment by the Reds earlier in the week. Houston’s bullpen issues have been exacerbated by elbow injuries to Roberto Osuna and Chris Devenski, which have forced rookies and inexperienced arms into key situations. Raley was back on a big league roster this season for the first time since 2013, having allowed four runs in four innings for Cincinnati. Having spent the past five years as a starter in the KBO, it’s possible that Houston could envision a swingman role for Raley, although how quickly he could get stretched out is unknown. For now, he can remain on the waiver wire in all season-long formats.
