A's Talking About Jurickson Profar
6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics are among the teams talking to the Texas Rangers about a trade for infielder Jurickson Profar, according to sources. Profar would be an option to play the keystone if free-agent second baseman Jed Lowrie signs elsewhere on the open market. Franklin Barreto is also an internal possibility. Profar was a post-hype breakout candidate that finally found enough playing time in Texas last season to make a difference. He took advantage of the opportunity, hitting .254/.335/.458 with a career-high 20 home runs, 77 RBI, 82 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 146 games. He'll only be 26 in February, but a move to pitcher-friendly Oakland wouldn't be ideal. Still, Profar is a player on the rise that is more attractive to fantasy owners because of his ability to play shortstop, third base or second base.
